I had to make my first sympathy card today. I went to the store & bought a sympathy stamp for the front of the card. There are very few to choose from! I was disappointed...altho sympathy cards are my least favorite to make b/c I know there's a broken heart on the receiving end of the card, I know it's probably the most important card to make someone. When my grandmother passed away last year, I didn't want to be around anyone, but I wanted to know I had someone there for me. A card was the best thing for me at the time & I hope it's the best thing for my friends that lost their loved one recently.
This card seems kind of bland to me, but it's for one of my guy friends, so it didn't need to be flashy. I'm trying to avoid making my cards too 'busy' or overloaded. I have a habit of getting carried away! Instead of using a traditional folding card, I used a brad to secure the 'presents' so the card would swing open. I thought it was a great idea at first, but then I realized how limited the inside space was due to the mechanics of the card. Oh well...live & learn!
This card did NOT turn out the way I had hoped!! Oh well, better luck next time!
Just to give you an idea, this is the start of it all: The circle is supposed to spin around, but I guess I added too much junk to it. It slides instead of spinning. =/ I didn't get creative with the inside b/c I ran out of time! It takes me too long to decide on a theme, so I rarely finish a card in time.
I got the idea for this card at a craft meeting my mom & I went to. They showed me how to make the card at the meeting, so all I had to do was come home & make it! It was actually pretty easy. I'm doing another birthday card tomorrow with a similar design. I feel like I am getting much better at crafting, but it still takes me FOREVER to make a card b/c I am way too indecisive. hehe!
Another card making attempt. It's not what I was planning, but it worked out OK! My biggest problem was trying to secure 'DAD' to the vellum tag. I need to find a better alternative to glue dots! They're such a pain. Any suggestions?
I made a quick birthday card for a friend of mine. It's not my best work, but I was in a bit of a hurry! I have two more birthday cards to make this month. I'm hoping they will turn out better!
I'm a happily married housewife and part time model. I currently live between the penthouse apartment I am renting in NYC and the house I own in Kingwood, TX. I have an adorable chihuahua named Abrielle; Abby for short. I absolutely love to travel & have been to some pretty amazing places. I feel very fortunate that I have the ability to see the world and enjoy what life has to offer. I'm a lucky girl! For me, everyday is a winding road and it doesn't get better than this!
